Mauritius and Tunisia: Renewing Diplomatic Ties

A Longstanding Friendship Reaffirmed

Ebene, Mauritius, Africa | 02 May 2025

Mauritius continues to strengthen its international partnerships, with renewed momentum in its longstanding relationship with the Republic of Tunisia. In a significant diplomatic gesture, Her Excellency Mrs Karima Bardaoui, Ambassador of Tunisia, officially presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Dharam Gokhool, at the State House in Réduit on 08 April 2025.

During the meeting, President Gokhool and Ambassador Bardaoui explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. Discussions focused on deepening collaboration in the education and cultural sectors, including student exchanges through scholarships and enhanced support services. Both sides also explored new strategic opportunities in key industries such as trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, textiles, tourism, renewable energy and information technology.

The diplomatic engagement reaffirms the robust and cordial ties between Mauritius and Tunisia, established in 1956. The renewed focus on sector-specific partnerships reflects both countries’ ambitions to build a resilient, interconnected future grounded in mutual trust and cooperation. The strengthening of Mauritius-Tunisia ties opens new avenues for collaboration, reinforcing regional engagement and shared growth.
